Facilities and Resources

Since 1990, FMA has operated the Yucca Ridge Field Station which has served as the site of several international scientific experiments researching severe weather phenomena. FMA has extensive computer, graphics, video/DVD production and editing facilities to support forensic and scientific investigations. A new 2500 square foot laboratory and office facility was added in 1996.

Inhouse nationwide weather data archive
High speed internet access for fast web searches and data downloads
Professional quality still and video image acquisition systems
DVD/video digital non-linear editing systems (Media 100 and Final Cut Pro)
Networked MAC G4 and PC computers, one terrabyte disk storage space
Various computer graphics and mapping programs, Photoshop, color printers
Extensive library of time lapse video and 35 mm slides for illustrating weather phenomena
Meteorological libraries (Colorado State University; National Center for Atmospheric Research)
